| * x86 smp: modify send_IPI_mask interface to accept cpumask_t pointersMike Travis2008-12-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: cleanup, change parameter passing * Change genapic interfaces to accept cpumask_t pointers where possible. * Modify external callers to use cpumask_t pointers in function calls. * Create new send_IPI_mask_allbutself which is the same as the send_IPI_mask functions but removes smp_processor_id() from list. This removes another common need for a temporary cpumask_t variable. * Functions that used a temp cpumask_t variable for: cpumask_t allbutme = cpu_online_map; cpu_clear(smp_processor_id(), allbutme); if (!cpus_empty(allbutme)) ... become: if (!cpus_equal(cpu_online_map, cpumask_of_cpu(cpu))) ... * Other minor code optimizations (like using cpus_clear instead of CPU_MASK_NONE, etc.) Applies to linux-2.6.tip/master. * | x86, 32-bit: improve lazy TLB handling codeJan Beulich2008-12-161-6/+5
|/ | | | | | | | | Impact: micro-optimize the 32-bit TLB flush code Use the faster x86_{read,write}_percpu() accessors here. Signed-off-by: Jan Beulich <jbeulich@novell.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: add smp_mb() before sending INVALIDATE_TLB_VECTORSuresh Siddha2008-11-061-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Impact: fix rare x2apic hang On x86, x2apic mode accesses for sending IPI's don't have serializing semantics. If the IPI receivner refers(in lock-free fashion) to some memory setup by the sender, the need for smp_mb() before sending the IPI becomes critical in x2apic mode. Add the smp_mb() in native_flush_tlb_others() before sending the IPI. Signed-off-by: Suresh Siddha <suresh.b.siddha@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* x86: build fix for !CONFIG_SMPAlex Nixon2008-09-051-0/+8
| | | | | | | | Move reset_lazy_tlbstate into tlb_32.c, and define noop versions of play_dead() in process_{32,64}.c when !CONFIG_SMP. Signed-off-by: Alex Nixon <alex.nixon@citrix.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
* on_each_cpu(): kill unused 'retry' parameterJens Axboe2008-06-261-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | It's not even passed on to smp_call_function() anymore, since that was removed. So kill it. Acked-by: Jeremy Fitzhardinge <jeremy.fitzhardinge@citrix.com> Reviewed-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
* x86: create tlb filesGlauber Costa2008-04-171-0/+243
this patch creates tlb_32.c and tlb_64.c, with tlb-related functions that used to live in smp*.c files. Signed-off-by: Glauber Costa <gcosta@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
