Since the driver will be unusable, it's better to fail the whole POST if the memory cannot be configured properly. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add a mutex to avoid a circular locking problem between the mm layer semaphore and fbdev ioctl mutex through the fb_mmap() call. Also, add mutex to all places where smem_start and smem_len fields change so the mutex inside the fb_mmap() is actually used. Changing of these fields before calling the framebuffer_register() are not mutexed. This is 2.6.31 material. It removes one lockdep (fb_mmap() and register_framebuffer()) but there is still another one (fb_release() and register_framebuffer()). It also cleans up handling of the smem_start and smem_len fields used by mutexed section of the fb_mmap(). * PCI: Change all drivers to use pci_device->revisionAuke Kok2007-07-111-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of all drivers reading pci config space to get the revision ID, they can now use the pci_device->revision member. This exposes some issues where drivers where reading a word or a dword for the revision number, and adding useless error-handling around the read. Some drivers even just read it for no purpose of all. In devices where the revision ID is being copied over and used in what appears to be the equivalent of hotpath, I have left the copy code and the cached copy as not to influence the driver's performance. Compile tested with make all{yes,mod}config on x86_64 and i386.
