Unlike previous drivers (which were never in mainline) this uses DMA and not PIO to read disks. It is a new driver, not a refactoring of old drivers. HID 1.11 states: Fields may span at most 4 bytes. This patch, based on 2.6.23, fixes this by modifying the internal report descriptor in hid-quirks.c. Additional user space support (e.g. LIRC) is required to fetch the information from the hiddev interface. The burden to reconstruct the data is moved into userspace (lirc through hiddev). There is no need to set HID_QUIRK_HIDDEV quirk, as the device has also output applications, which trigger the creation of hiddev device automatically. The only missing part is the ioctl interface to start and stop tracing. This patch adds the SETUP, START, STOP and TEARDOWN ioctls from blktrace to the sg device files. Related 'uptodate' arguments are converted to 'error'. xsysace is a little bit different from "normal" drivers. xsysace driver has a state machine in it. It calls end_that_request_first() and end_that_request_last() from different states. (ACE_FSM_STATE_REQ_TRANSFER and ACE_FSM_STATE_REQ_COMPLETE, respectively.) However, those states are consecutive and without any interruption inbetween. So we can just follow the standard conversion rule (b) mentioned in the patch subject "[PATCH 01/30] blk_end_request: add new request completion interface".
