Fix a bug with r126884 - Make sure ports are closed when they're no longer used.
This fix will ensure the port is cleaned up, but won't close the channel until
there are no other ports listening to the channel.
I also added a call to clean up the port immediately after sending a response,
rather than waiting for GC.
